So you theoretically have unlimited maps. But one terrific aspect of Cubemen 2 is the ability to design your own levels, as well as play levels others have created. This may not be the best tower defense game around. On the iPhone though, the soldiers are so tiny it won’t actually make that much of a difference to your enjoyment of the game (some built-in level themes look fairly decent compared to the plain unit colors). However, if you’re unwilling to pay for IAP unit skins or level themes, the regular unit colors and themes built into the game are far from exciting. It’s great that the game’s appearance can be customized. Personally, I find the graphics a letdown. Only two upgrades are possible for each soldier, which is on the poor side compared to the average tower defense game. However, with small cube figures to control, it can be a little too easy to sometimes accidentally misdirect your troops, even on the iPad. When time’s up, the team with the most painted tiles wins. You can, however, lose your colored tiles, so you’ll have to defend them. The latter involves a more unique gameplay: Each team’s troops will paint blocks in your team’s color by walking over them. These include Capture the Flag and Territory. Three additional types of games may be played in either single-player or multiplayer mode. In Rescue, you’ll have to protect civilians from enemy attack as they make a run for your base. In addition, you won’t have much breathing time before the waves start. The difference is you can move your soldiers and select targets. Your mission in the main campaign is to defend your base from enemy attacks, just as you would in a typical tower defense game. Like in its titular predecessor, you will command blocky soldiers on various maps built of blocks. The television screen could show different angles of the level while fighting or have close ups of units battling.If you’re familiar with real-time strategy or tower defense games, Cubemen 2 ( out now, $1.99), which blends both genres, will feel immediately intuitive to play. Using the stylus you move specific units to their positions and you can design your own level by dropping blocks on the grid.
Having the same exact image on both screens is not necessary for Cubemen 2 because everything happens on the touchpad.

Besides the lack of female skins, there is no reason to keep the TV set on since the entire game can be played from the GamePad. Technically the ninja, mummy and spaceman could be females but a pirate girl or a princess would be a nice welcome. With twenty alternate options, not a single one is a female version. Unfortunately, there is a disappointment with the unit skins. Each new level gives you a limited number of cubes and the only way to earn more cubes is by blowing up opposing cubemen. The only way to use a cubeman is by purchasing one with in-game currency: cubes. There is a limit to how many which cubemen you use. You must position your men quickly since enemies can destroy your tower in the span of three minutes. Playing against AI is the best way to practice and plan out battles before playing with real players.
Building a level with floating terrain, teleports and health stations is a fun way to dream up a gruesome battleground. Having twenty skins for my units of cubemen, a player can make spacemen fight in ancient Egypt or have green shirted cowboys fight in a digital city.Īs much as the level patterns and unit skins have an impact on the visual aspect of Cubemen 2, it is the strategy that takes the stage of this production. The beauty of this simplistic looking game is imagining and creating your own battles.
